Wicked Wednesday–July 4th–Julia Rachel Barrett

Time again for another, and …oh, on a holiday too! Happy July 4th to all who celebrate it. Around here the firecrackers have been going off the last week, at least. Be safe, remember if you fire off a gun, point it towards the ground. We don’t want to hear anyone got hurt (or worse) this year. Okay? On to the wicked Wednesday post:

This one comes from a smoking hot book…from Beauty and The Feast by our  friend J.R. Barrett (AKA Julia Rachel Barrett)…herm…what to pick…

This is an ebook so… 16% through we find this:

On one side of the salmon sat a small pile of delicate pink flakes. Gabriel dipped his finger into the pile, brought it to his mouth and licked it. Salt. Some kind of pink salt. On the other side, she’d mounded coarsely cracked black pepper. He picked up a tiny white ceramic pitcher and sniffed. Toasted black sesame oil, ginger and rice wine vinegar. Gabe’s mouth watered. He wished he had someone to share this meal with, but he was glad he’d taken Stephanie home…

It gets hotter after that, so if hot scenes aren’t your thing, stop here. If they are, the rest is on my other blog here.

Good Reads has this synopsis:

Eva Raines is an uncomplicated country girl who’s all about food. Eva moves to the Napa Valley where her culinary skills come to the attention of the owners of a start-up, All Things to All People, and Eva finds her niche as a personal chef. Now all she needs is a man as perfect as her cooking, but she has serious doubts that such a creature exists.

When wealthy entrepreneur, winery owner, and noted Lothario, Gabriel Abbott, makes plans to seduce his flavor of the month, his assistant hires All Things to All People to cater a gourmet dinner. Eva expects to use her way with food to showcase the startup. What she unexpectedly discovers is that her culinary skills showcase far more.

Once Gabriel finds himself seduced by Eva’s voice, and the sensual flavors and textures of her food, his previous plans are quickly forgotten. He begins to obsess about meeting his little chef in person. But when Eva and Gabe finally come face to face, the question is, how hot will their fire burn?

My Review:

Country girl Eva Raines is a chef in Napa Valley, California working with a catering company called All Thing to All People, Gabriel Abbott owns a winery. He contacts All Things to All People to cater a dinner for two for he and another woman, Stephanie, at his home. The minute he hears Eva’s voice, however, he’s so hooked he dumps Stephanie.

Eva hasn’t been with a man for a while and she’s not sure she wants to get together with Gabe, at first, but man does he have a sexy voice! One mere phone call has her fantasizing about him. (and he her) Once they finally do get together the erotic sparks flame up.

Stephanie, however, has developed a stalker-ish obsession for Gabe and poor Eva catches the brunt of it. Will Gabe and Eva be able to make something of their lust or will Stephanie ruin everything? You’ll have to read to find out.

Julia Rachel Barrett does a fine job with this book, and girls, believe me, I think you might find Gabe turning up in …ahem, your dreams. Enjoy!
